JJW Design

Things are only looking brighter (04/22/2008 Update)!

Yes, things have changed a lot over the past year or two. I've found myself working with an exciting pre-IPO company, working on some of the most advanced laser systems in the world, and at the same time improving the quality of my life in so many ways.

Unfortunately, I have very limited time to work on a projects at this time. I wish I could double the amount of time in a day, but nobody has created a time machine yet. So, at this time I am only handling emergency service issues with existing clients.

Continuation of JJW Design

I've been doing some serious thinking about what I'm going to do with JJWDesign.com, especially with all of the other things in my life. I am going to keep this Web site identity operational for a couple of reasons.
  1. Programming and Web Design is still a major focus of my business career path and I am keeping JJWDesign.com live to help show my level of expertise in these various information technology fields.
  2. There are many existing articles that have become very popular over the years, such as the Data Mining Tutorial & Functions, and I would like to continue to share with the Internet community.
  3. I have also started a simple Word Press Blog section to further write interesting articles that I think other may enjoy reading.
  4. PHP Booking Calendar: Continue development and support for one of my most successful Open Source projects called the PHP Booking Calendar. I am continuing development of a second version with a more advanced database design. No estimate on when a release candidate will be available.  Development and support will be moved to www.phpbookingcalendar.com in the near future.

Word of Advice: You Get What You Pay For

In order to reduce over-all development and operations costs, some companies have embraced the "global economy" associated with IT and Web development. In some ways, I believe this has been a terrible mistake. In many cases, the company is required to hire an outsourcing company to manage their needs with programmers and developers from overseas.

But before you hire someone overseas (or even inside the USA), let me give you the inside scoop. Many of these design companies rely solely on their overseas programmers and require sometimes up to 24 hours to get changes implemented. What happens if you need something done today or even an hour from now? Quality and lack of satisfaction from overseas developers is driving companies back to the local talent. Think twice before making the same mistake for your business.
